For my first podcast episode, I interviewed Alma from Austria. I learned a lot, and wanted to share some highlights with you. The full episode can be found here, check it out!
How do you arrive at school?
I usually get up around 6:30 am, and then I take the bus and the train to school. The public transportation here is great, so you can get there easily. From the train station I walk about 50 minutes, and then I’m at school.
What are some classes that you take at school?
I go to an upper secondary high school for the training of nursery teachers, so there are lots of classes for everything about kids. We also have a guitar class, where we learn how to play guitar. We also have English, German, science, sports, and all of the other normal classes.
What’s the climate like?
There are 4 seasons, but this summer, the weather was crazy! Sometimes, it was very cold (around 15 degrees celsius), and sometimes it was very hot (around 35 degrees celsius).
In the winter, there can be a lot of snow.
Do you get school off for snow days?
No, we don’t : (
Can you tell us about a cool place to visit in Austria?
We have a city called Bregenz, and its a very popular city. And the nice thing is that it borders a lake, which borders Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. You can take the ship to Germany, and I would recommend doing that.
What’s a special Austrian meal?
Schnitzel is very popular in Austria, and you can eat it almost any place here. Schnitzel is meat fried with breadcrumbs, so it gets very crispy and yummy.
Do you guys use social media often?
Yes, teenagers here have tiktok, instagram, and snapchat is also popular.
If you know a teen from around the world who would be interested in being interviewed for a future podcast episode (and is comfortable speaking conversational English), send them this interest form!
